Only one Republican voted to confirm Judge Sotomayor this morning. Can you spell "suicidal?" The electorate will never again be as white as it was in 2008 and the Repubs are thumbing their nose at Hispanics every chance they get. At this rate, it won't be long before Arizona and even Texas turn blue.

In today's hostile environment, this Hispanic woman describes her heritage as Mexican-born-in-Texas. I'd like to see just one day funded by a rich liberal where all Mexicans took the day "off". It would be interesting to see how much doesn't get done. Oh, I forgot that these were jobs "stolen" from enthusiastic Anglos. Never mind, I'm sure they'd be thrilled to pitch in . . .
ReplyDeleteNow You Know, thanks for the comment! Your point is right on - unfortunately this is just the latest in a long series of "demonization of the Other" which conservatives seem intent on exploiting. Whether it's Asians, Africans, Irish, or Latinos - the song remains the same.
ReplyDeleteI live in an area which was devastated by Hurricane Ivan. After the storm it was mexican workers who got this area up and going again (including the roof on my house). I for one am thankful they were here and willing to help us.
